I was playing Xenoblade Chronicles X tonight and reading about a bunch of different NPCs in the Affinity Chart. After doing this for a bit, I clicked on Elma's picture and pressed "X" to bring up her character profile (which I've done before without any issue) and the game suddenly froze, seemingly locked in a perpetual state of loading. The music was still playing and the graphics on the screen were still animated, also touching the icons on the GamePad worked as well, but no other inputs did anything. After waiting for several minutes and trying every button, I finally had no choice but to close the game. Luckily I didn't lose much progress.
I restarted the game and immediately tried looking at Elma's profile again, and the same exact thing happened. I then restarted the game several times, testing out trying to look at other character profiles, and in different areas of the game and the same thing happened every time. Finally, I unplugged my Wii U, waited a few seconds, and then plugged it back in. After going back into the game, I was able to view the character profiles in the Affinity Chart and everything seemed to be working fine, but there's no telling if and when this will happen again.
I looked online and found several others who encountered this same issue and posted about it on forums. Anyone else here encounter this issue? I plan on calling and reporting it to Nintendo, but I hope enough people complain and it's recognized and patched. For now, I guess I'll just have to remember to save very often and be wary of looking at character profiles in the Affinity Chart (and consider this a warning to anyone who reads it). I'm also worried now about other potential bugs like this, since this one seems so odd and random. I haven't encountered any other bugs and besides this the game has been working just fine, but I can only imagine the frustration of losing a ton of progress to a bug like this.
This is a fantastic game so far and I just hate to encounter an issue like this.
