This has happened to me ever since I owned the regular Wii, and the problem has kept happening since I got the Wii U. Sometimes, when I'm playing a game, the controller inputs will lag and sometimes it my character will move by itself. This happens with nearly every game I have, but the most common is Super Smash Bros Wii U. Normally, it wasn't a problem, because all I would do is go to the Home Menu, disconnect the controllers and change the order, and it would work fine, but now it's gotten really out of hand. Now, it doesn't work and I try it over 20 times and it still acts up. The weird thing is that on the Wii U Menu it acts fine, but when I get into a game, it acts up. Sometimes, it acts up in the menu too. I'm guessing this is a common problem, but can someone explain what I should do? This happens with both Wii and Wii U software. Also, it's every controller except the Gamepad that this happens with.
