Wii U USB Drive Error

I recently ordered a hard drive enclosure to use with an old Western Digital hard drive of mine as external storage for my Wii U. I transfered all of my games over to the hard drive and things were working flawlessly. Once Super Smash Brothers released at midnight, I downloaded it immediately and was extremely excited to get off work the next day to play it.

I booted up the game, and I immediately got a black screen. The error reads: "There is a problem with the hard drive or system memory. Error code: 160-???"

Bayonetta 2 was working fine. Bayonetta was working fine. Mario Kart 8 was working fine. Hyrule Warriors was working fine. But everytime I try to play Super Smash Bros, I get the same error code, forcing me to delete the game (which doesn't always work as it is labeled as "corrupt" data and forces me to reformat the hard drive) and start redownloading all of the games over again. A very exciting moment to experience after being at work for 12 hours...

Since all of my games work 100%, I am led to believe this has something to do with Smash Brothers. Has anyone else experienced this error and found a way to work around it? If so, any help would be greatly appreciated.

And yes, my hard drive is externally powered and yes, I have contacted Nintendo Customer Support twice and was told there was nobody at the call center to answer my call. Parting from my system and sending it in for repairs on the eve of Super Smash Brothers is something I want to avoid for obvious reasons.

Thank you in advance for the responses.
